The course provides the underpinning knowledge for the the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (no pharmacist). It delivers a comprehensive range of subjects including pharmaceutical science, pharmacy practice, pharmaceutics, laws and ethics, actions and uses of drugs and disease management. The learner should be someone showing a keen interest in professional development and a willingness to accept responsibility for a more senior role once qualified.

This course is generally undertaken alongside the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (no pharmacist) over a period of two years.
How is the course delivered?
All our courses are delivered by blended learning. This course benefits from a dedicated website where learners with internet access can download the course materials, along with additional support material.
The assessment involves assignments at the end of each module, which includes both multiple choice questions and short answer questions. You will also be asked to have recorded professional discussions with Buttercups Training in-house pharmacists.

This module covers the lawful and safe delivery of medicines, other organisations involved in the delivery of a pharmacy service and professionalism in pharmacy
This covers the structure of atoms, bonding and the Periodic Table. You will study chemistry principles relevant to pharmacy
You'll study the structure and function of the essential components of human life - carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and enzymes, genetics, metabolism, and the biology of water

Please note that registration as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC is dependent upon the relevant two year work experience in a pharmacy under pharmacist supervision. If this is not possible, then the learner must not be known as a pharmacy technician on completion, but rather a senior dispenser or similar title.
